Day of MOURNING On April 28th of each year the North Okanagan Labour Council remembers those who have lost their lives or suffered injury that forever changes lives. Last year 140 BC workers died from workplace injury or disease. The global COVID -19 pandemic has fundamentally changed the way we live and work. While everyone is affected by the crisis, workers are on the front line. Many are doing critical work without the protections they need to keep themselves safe. Because we cannot hold our in-person gathering this year, at Ben Lee Park, Kelowna, our enduring message of the Day of Mourning; "to mourn for the dead and fight for the living" is more important than ever. North Okanagan It is unfortunate that it takes a crisis such as the COVID-19 pandemic for everyone to realize the real value of all of all working people.
